Congratulations on the RTPI Award Commendation.

Thought this article (link below) may also be of interest - not so much a negative viewpoint as a 'checks and balances' approach, something our foresters are pretty aware of when new planting is proposed, as trees need looking after!

Great news - Liverpool's forward-thinking approach to the planning of green assets such as woodlands, parks and street trees has been recognised at the national Royal Town Planning Institute Awards.

The city's green infrastructure strategy – commissioned by Liverpool City Council and Liverpool PCT, written by The Mersey Forest, and being delivered by partners including Liverpool Vision – received a Commendation in the Spatial Strategies category at the awards ceremony held in London.

Great start to Merseyside's Big Tree Plant this weekend! See more pics or read about the pair of tree planting events with schools in Southport and Knowsley.

PS Don't forget to tell us why local woods are important to you before Thursday for your chance to win a free Christmas tree from Delamere Forest.

Great news up north: Woodland bird numbers in the Northwest are up by 31% since 1994 says RSPB, in the face of sad declines in the south.

In the same period The Mersey Forest Partnership has planted new woods the size of 4,000 football pitches in Merseyside & Cheshire, so we hope to have played a significant part. Well done all involved!
